Everything We Know About Reacher Season 4

The character of Jack Reacher, who originates from a series of books by English author Lee Child, has found new life in recent years with the release of the Amazon Prime TV show Reacher, featuring the excellent Alan Ritchson in the lead role, who is a much better fit than Tom Cruise ever was when he played the military veteran in his two feature film vanity projects in the 2010s.

A big part of what makes Jack Reacher such a compelling character to audiences is that he is a physically imposing badass with an unwavering moral compass and the brains to match his brawn. For a screenwriter, he’s even more appealing because there is a wealth of material to adapt from, with 29 novels in the series, and the 30th entry arriving later this year. For season 3, Reacher’s creator and showrunner, Nick Santora, chose to adapt one of the most popular entries in the entire book series, Persuader, which marked a return to form for the show after what was an uneven 2nd season. And with filming now underway for the upcoming 4th season of Reacher, we not only know which book it will be adapting, but also the new cast that will be joining Ritchson.

To start with, this upcoming season will be adapted from Lee Child’s 13th book in the series, Gone Tomorrow, which was released in 2009. Without going into too much detail, the story begins with Reacher riding the subway late one night, when he spots a woman who he suspects to be a suicide bomber. Upon noticing an approaching Reacher, the woman suddenly shoots herself in the head, leaving our hero with a dead body and plenty of burning questions. This event consequently drags Reacher into a plot that involves government conspiracy, assassins, and some of the most ruthless and cold-blooded villains he has faced to date, which is really saying something when you consider the irredeemable evil of season 3’s Quinn.

Gone Tomorrow was only announced as season 4’s story last month, as Ritchson initially teased it with a picture of the script on the seat of a Toronto subway car, which was posted on his social media, before making it official with another post that saw him grasping the book in one hand, while holding up four fingers on the other.

The cast for this latest season is proving to be yet another impressive assortment of talent, which includes Christopher Marquette, Sydelle Noel, Kevin Corrigan, and Indonesian popstars Agnez Mo and Anggun in regular roles, while Kevin Weisman, Marc Blucas, and Canadian actress Kathleen Robertson have been cast in recurring roles. Famed Canadian actor and comedian Jay Baruchel was initially set to become one of the most high-profile cast members of the entire series alongside Robert Patrick and Anthony Michael Hall, though he eventually had to pull out of the production for undisclosed personal reasons, and Marquette was consequently cast in his place. Maria Sten, who plays Francis Neagley, is the only confirmed supporting cast member returning from previous seasons, which is hardly surprising considering that hers is the only character to feature in every season besides Ritchson’s Reacher, not to mention she has her own spinoff show on the way.

Reacher has been exclusively filmed in and around Ontario since season 1, and while this latest season will largely be filmed in the province once again, there are also additional scenes being shot in Philadelphia, which is where the story will take place, a notable change from Gone Tomorrow’s setting of New York City.

An exact release date has yet to be announced for the 4th season of Reacher, but for now, some time in 2026 is as certain as it gets.
