David Corenswet Pitches Superman, Wonder Woman & Lois’ Love Triangle

With James Gunn’s Superman just days away from hitting the big screens, David Corenswet, who portrays the titular superhero in the flick, has come out to share some crossover ideas he would like to see in future DCU projects. In a recent interview, he namedropped two DC characters that he would want Clark Kent to interact with, going as far as to suggest a love triangle involving the Man of Steel.

David Corenswet shares interesting ideas for Superman’s DCU crossover

The 31-year-old actor opened up about the potential crossovers that can take place in the DCU with Superman. He revealed that he would love to see Kal-El act as an uncle to Robin. Additionally, the Twisters star also coined the idea of a love triangle among Superman, Lois Lane, as well as Wonder Woman.

As he noted the character that he would prefer to see have a crossover with Superman, David Corenswet told ComicBook.com, “I think Batman has got to be my answer, but it just occurred to me that one of the Robins – one of the iterations of Robin – would be interesting, because I think Superman has good dad energy. And although it’s been explored – his relationship with his sons in certain iterations – I feel like it would be interesting to have him as sort of an uncle figure to Batman’s younger protege.”

James Gunn recently confirmed that the holy trinity of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman will ultimately unite in his revamped DCU, albeit in due time. With The Brave and the Bold set to introduce Robin, the collaboration between the last son of Krypton and Batman’s sidekick could happen sooner than expected.

Another crossover that the Superman actor suggested was between Kal-El and Wonder Woman. “Superman and Wonder Woman interest me, in theory,” Corenswet added, before saying, “Maybe we could have a love triangle in the other direction?” To this, Rachel Brosnahan, who portrays Lois Lane, jokingly replied, “Lois would have a lot to say about that.”

Only time will tell if fans will be able to witness the crossovers with Superman that David Corenswet desires in future DCU movies. In the meantime, they can feast their eyes on the Superman flick, which flies into theaters on July 11, 2025.
