Sometime back, us folks here in BC had a pretty dreadful wildfire season. Every time there was some form of wildfires, the sky would get hazy and I struggled to see or even breathe as I navigated my way out to whatever errands or business trips I did for the day. Well, during the last one Kevin Eastwood took a collection of cameras and crew to the wildfires with the BC Wildfire Service to capture the stories of the brave fighters who went into the action to save the day. It’s not often an emergency service allows such an opportunity to film crews to give them coverage, and you may be thinking is it all interviews or dramatic footage? Well, it is educational and behind-the-scenes content, with maybe some dramatic footage. Yes, there are interviews with those who were affected, but we also get interviews with the team, which is fascinating. It also shows how communities come together to take on the challenges of these fires and rebuild when they have won. The whole thing showcases how amazing it is. In fact, take a look at it here:

The show co-directors and producers Simon Shave and Clayton Mitchell feel honoured at the fact that BC Wildfire Service allowed them to do so, and Kevin Eastwood himself referred to it as a unique opportunity, saying how it will educate the public with this situation. Working on set for him was certainly something else. While he has made a fair share of documentaries and other projects, this one is probably the most interesting opportunity for him getting to come along with the BC Wildfire Service but keeping a safe distance from the intensity. He just might be creating more documentaries about disasters very soon. Be sure to check out Wildifre on Knowledge Network as it premieres on the 29th at 8PM PST, and then continues on until May 27 as it is a five part series. It can also be viewed on the app and website in advance. More details here.
